    your face is a nihilist

You know your an internet guru when your blog gets spam hits…or not. Either way I’ve been geting spam comments a lot lately. This is especially uncool because I always get really excited when I get comments only to be let down by them being spam…How come random robot spammers can figure out how to post comments but my dad can’t??!? I wish that I could get some legit comments, and yes, this is a despearate request for comments. Anyways I’m just chillin’ in my dorm now about to do some virtual chemistry (sounds exciting, right?!) and I got some spam that I was particularly impressed with. Just some random crap at the bottom of an email, but not the normal cyalisis ad or lord of the rings excerpt, no, I got a fun new outlook on life. Without further ado:

Is a sleeping bag a nap sack?
What came first, the fruit or the color orange?
Where does the white go when the snow melts?
Can blind people see their dreams?
If there’s an exception to every rule, is there an exception to that
    rule?
Why do you click on start to exit Microsoft Windows?
Have you ever wondered why Trix are only for kids?
Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard?
Why do most cars have speedometers that go up to at least 130 when you
legally can’t go that fast on any road?
Why do they call it “getting your dog fixed” if afterwards it doesn’t
    work anymore?
If Wile Coyote had enough money for all that Acme crap, why didn’t he
    just buy dinner?
If masochists like to torture themselves, wouldn’t they do it best by
not torturing themselves? and if so, aren’t we all masochist?
why is it called lipstick when it always comes off?
If when people freak out they are said to be “having a cow”, when cows
freak out are they said to be “having a person?”
Aren’t you tired of people asking you rhetorical questions and you
don’t know if they are rhetorical questions or not?
Why is a person that handles your money called a BROKER?
Why do we leave expensive cars in the driveway, when we keep worthless
    junk in the garage?

Maybe it really is profound or maybe I’m high on tired because its 2Am. I don’t really care, this is my blog I can do whatever I want, eat me.

Also interesting in the life of yours truly is the book sale on our campus. Books are 75% off right now and will be 90% off on friday, at which point I plan to buy many and eBay them. There are good books, I made a list of about 20-30 books today that are nice fat textbooks for flash, html, java, linux, etc. that will pick up a pretty penny. Those are books I can wait for the 90%. Today I picked up 4 that I didn’t want to risk losing for a total of $20 and they are as follows: Fashionable Nihilism by bruce wilkshire, Stalin’s Last Crime by Jonathan Brent and Vladmir P. Naumov, A Century of Violence in Soviet Russia by Alexander N. Yakovlev, and The Autobiography of the top-ranked marine sniper: Shooter by Gunnery Sgt. Jack Coughlin, USMC and Capt. Casey Kuhlman, USMCR with Donald A. Davis.

There are also some good historical texts on nazi Germany/hitler/soviet russia that I was interested in but that will have to wait another day or two…Again, I’m not sure if your interested in all of this and quite frankly, I don’t care.

    k thx bye roflbbq

    i fixed it!

    Hello world,

About 1 week after I got my new notebook (Compal CL56) in July or so I took the thing apart and ever since my internal WIFI Has been broken. Everything worked but for no reason the system always thought that the WLAN switch was off. I even took the thing apart and tested everything, the switch was working 100%, I even tried shorting the switch to no avail. I ended up purchasing a USB Wifi adapter, and sat on it for about 2 months. Well I had some free time today after classes (or rather didn’t want to do any of the 4 labs I have due…) and spend a couple of hours tearing this thing apart to test. After no success trying every way to bypass the switch I hit up google (for the thousandth time, mind you). After about 1.5 hours of tricky searching I found the answer to my problem, and I figured I’d share this info as it was reallly hard to find…so here it is!

The internal card I have is a mini PCI Intel 2200 bg wireless pro card. Aparently it has weird compatibility issues (not sure what triggered mine…) with different models of laptops. Long story short there are two pins on this card that read the switch and when covered they ignore the state of the switch and go ahead and run the card as it should (You should note that if you have this card and an “uncompatible laptop” this mod will most likely make it compatible…). So the trick is to locate the pins and cover them in tape so that they do not make contact. The two pins are pins 11 and 13 which is convenient as they are next to each other. The odd pins are on the top and the even pins are on the bottom of the card so these pins are also right on top. Anyways after all this effort I’ve finally managed to get this working so here are some pics to explain what I just said.

The following pic shows the two offending pins, I have marked them with a sharpie and then covered them in some scotch tape. I have heard that nail polish works the same:

    taped pins

So I don’t know if anyone was interested but if you have this problem I thought I’d let you know so you don’t go through the months/hours of wasted time and effor that I did…Enjoy!

In case anyone was wondering, yes, this is a post on a modding forum that I decided would make a nice update to my blog as I haven’t had time and it is totally relevant to real life…deal with it.
