    Metal Gear

Filed under: Computers, Free time, Music, Video Games — bm4n @ 1:25 pm

In light my recent drought of game coverage (that was a joke, like all of my newest posts have been focused on some game — but I’m sure you already got that joke because you read this like every day…) I have decided to post about my FAVORITE game/series; the original “Tactical Espionage Action” game featuring the singles greatest hero of all time, underdog Solid Snake; I’m talking about Metal Gear Solid, but more specifically, the Metal Gear series.
    MGS1

As this is like the longest and best thing I have ever written (the subject matter kind of prevents any suckage) you can continue to read this…AFTER THE BREAK! That’s right, from now on I’m cutting down ridiculously long posts by breaking them after I curb your interest…so Read on!

    Polysics: Part Deuce

Filed under: Free time, Music — bm4n @ 9:00 am

Wow, I’ve been good lately. I Said I was going to post some pictures and here I am: posting some pictures. That Polysics show was easily in my top 10 nights ever, up there with seeing the Rage Against the Machine reunion and playing Blasto all night long with Micah this summer. I mean, I met all the members of the band…And they were all the sweetest people ever. And they all signed their pictures on the record I bought which is like the greatest thing ever. I listen to it like every day and feel cool because I listen to records. After the show we (me and 2 girls and a dude I met at the show) went to this record shop and this lady took our picture because we looked…”interesting.” Then we hit up some art galleries and I beat everybody at chess at a creperie (that’s a word I invented for “place where you eat crepes, those tiny pancakes). Pics after the break!

    FutureSex/RobotSounds

Let me paint you a picture: its fall and its starting to get darker earlier every day. Your just relaxing in your pajamas, about to enjoy a Hershey’s bar when the door bell rings! You hear groaning…Your not expecting any guests, who could it be? You cautiously inch your way to the door jumping at each creek your ancient wooden floorboards make. You sneak an eye to the peephole and you see just what you’d hoped not to…ROBOTS.

The Devil went to Guitar Hero 3

Filed under: Free time, Music, Video Games — bm4n @ 3:28 pm

I guess I’ve been posting more often lately…Its kind of therapeutic or something. In any event, I just read online (courtesy of Joystiq.com) about the final boss track in Guitar Hero 3…If you don’t know what that is you shouldn’t be reading the blog of a gamer. The last track is “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” sans fiddles, played on shredding guitar by Steve Ouimette (who that is I have no idea, but Joysiq linked to his personal site which, cleverly enough, is http://www.steveouimette.com — feel free to check it out, I know I won’t). Its 6:15 long and I can only imagine what this is going to look like on expert (I can also imagine Caleb at home right now listening to it and air-Guitar-Hero-ing — its a very funny image, I suggest you try to conjure it up yourself). Weather you are an avid Guitar Hero player or not you have to appreciate the awesome guitar work in this song so I suggest any non-game-savvy readers go ahead and listen anyway. For all you GH freaks out there who want to get a jump on the competition the track is below — enjoy.

    Polysics

    Polysics!!

Ohmygosh. This is the greatest band ever. My dad will like this post, plus I’m pretty sure he’s the only one who reads this stuff anyways. So anyway, this is about this guy named … Benny, I think. He’s this video game reviewer who has done really well for himself. He’s marrying my dad’s friend’s daughter so I see him on big family parties (theirs) and things, or at least I have, twice now. My dad really thinks this guy is like the greatest connection ever, like the rest of my life can be secured based on befriending this dude. Well I like the dude. He’s nice and quiet and plays good games and things…but the story isn’t really about Benny.

    Tastykake

I recently had a traumatic experience with my favorite packaged pastry (alliteration FTW) so I wrote a letter to the company. I’ve written letters of praise before and gotten coupons, etc. and I’ve heard letters of complaint garner a lot more from a company. I love this snack, I would never want to threaten the company who makes them, lest I appear as some kind of extortionist…which I am not. So I wrote a praising letter of complaint. I’m really hoping to get like fifty cases of Tastykakes or something. Or maybe they will be like “we don’t care.” OR maybe the letters won’t ever even be opened…I figured there would be a better chance they be read if sent on paper rather than through email. The letter that I sent to the CEO, Head of Human Resources, and the Chairman of the Board after the break:

    SKATE

So apparently my little bro can skate or something? I dunno. I leave home the kid can’t even ollie, now he’s doing flippy things and grinding rails. Apparently “inspired” by EA’s SKATE (which, I contend, cannot hold a candle to any Tony Hawk game ever), he is like getting pretty alright. In the mean time I’m stuck in Utah with a broken foot, but I digress…Anyways he just sent me some raw footy and, well, I’m a little impressed. Plus now he can tell his friends to go here and he’ll be all famous on teh internets and then traffic will increase. Which I care about because I’m a pathetic stat whore (Like most CS people, as it were). Anyways its not very good quality or anything but its cool…Vids after the break.
